Our Mission

The Learning Loft Preschool strives to provide children, 3-5 years old, with a fun, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate place to learn and grow.  We emphasize creative play, hands on and outdoor learning experiences.  Here, among other skills, students gain a sense of independence, learn respect for self and others, resilience, strength and stamina.  Students will develop the pre-requisite skills necessary for success in a Kindergarten program such as perseverance, frustration tolerance, physical, and mental strength.

Our highly trained and certified teachers focus heavily on developing strong bonds with students, so that they feel safe and supported enough to engage with the preschool environment in ways that will further their current skills.  They consider current student interests heavily when designing play spaces and activities, and believe that engaging “play” is the most meaningful work of a preschool child.

Our Space

The Learning Loft Preschool is located at 29 Wild Apple Way, North Yarmouth safely at the end of a long private road.  We are an inclusive community who welcomes students from all backgrounds, cultures, sexual orientations, alternative family structures, or other differences.

We utilize both indoor and outdoor spaces and feel strongly that children's learning should center around play, and that outdoor play is crucial to a child's development.  As such, our learning takes place outdoors whenever possible.

Both our indoor and our outdoor spaces include areas specially designed to encourage learning in all domains including social skills, literacy, math, science, gross motor, fine motor, risk assessment, and emotional regulation.

The Learning Loft also makes every attempt to involve the local communities whenever possible as a resource for learning.  Our vision is to create a community space where all children are free to learn, and where teachers are granted permission to “do what’s best for children.”
